ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
In 2002, Maria took a trip with her then fiancé to Laguna Beach, California to experience the Pageant of the Masters Fine Arts Festival and the Sawdust Festival, and it affected her deeply. Though she had never had any art classes, something about the entire experience drew her in and planted a seed.
Fast forward to November 2014 when a friend invited Maria to join her weekly evening oil painting group at an artist’s studio in Grapevine, Texas. Despite having no background in art, Maria jumped in with both feet. Turns out painting is a great way to manage stress! However, her corporate job continued to grow, so painting once a week was really all she could manage.
Corporate America moved Maria and her husband to Marietta, Georgia in 2019. And, after experiencing significant changes at her company due to COVID, Maria took the plunge and retired early, freeing up time to develop and grow her artistic talents. Never, ever in her work life had she felt so much joy. It’s that joy and gratitude that she attempts to bring into her artwork.
My artwork is all about connection:
