ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORDon Saunders
Don Saunders is an award winning nature photographer. He specializes in landscape and wildlife photography. As a young boy, he developed his love of nature photography by wandering the woods near his boyhood home. Beginning in 1998, he wanted to develop his craft and attended workshops and lectures by acclaimed nature photographers John Shaw, Bill Fortney, Nancy Rotenberg, David Middleton, George Lepp, and Charles Glatzer. Don strives to create photographs that draw the viewer into the scene and make them feel one with the subject. He looks for unique natural lighting and special animal behavior to make his images memorable. "I am constantly searching for those special moments and places where the light and subject combine to make the ordinary VERY EXTRAORDINARY!” Don's images have been published in books and magazines including Nature's Best Photography, EOS (published in the U.K. for Canon photographers), Blue Ridge Country, Georgia Wildlife, Virginia Wildlife, The News Observer Welcome to Fannin County and Copper Basin, NANPA Currents, and NANPA's "Impressions" and “Expressions" books. His images have received numerous awards in exhibits and competitions including Georgia Council of Arts exhibited in the Georgia Governor’s office, Georgia Public Television's "Georgia Outdoors" Nature Photography contest, Blue Ridge Mountains Arts Association National Juried Photography exhibit, Shepherd Center Hospital (Atlanta) Permanent Exhibit, Callaway Gardens, Fernbank Science Center, Chattahoochee Nature Center, Meadowlark Nature Photography Exhibition, and multiple awards from the Georgia Nature Photographers Association.
