Saturday, 1 Session

Gain clarity about your writing project in this interactive in-person class. For writers who are just starting a project, those who are mid-book and unsure of their direction, or those who have a complete manuscript and are beginning revisions. Ask yourself the crucial questions that will take you to the heart of your story.  Learn how to find your book’s point and nail your story’s focus. Keep readers reading by connecting your scenes in a cause-and-effect trajectory.  Come prepared to write in class and catch a vision of what your book will be. Projects include intensive interactive writing and reading aloud in class for peer and instructor feedback to help them clarify their focus for a fiction or nonfiction book or a short story or essay.  Students will explore the “why” of their book, explore different starting and ending points for their story, define characters’ desires, and other techniques for creating and maintaining narrative drive to maintain reader interest.
