September 17, 2024—1 Session (Tuesday) from 5:00 pm to 7:00pm October 22, 2024—1 Session (Tuesday) from 5:00 pm to 7:00pm Instructors: John Thomas & Reid Carney Class Fee: $25.00 non-members + $10 supply fee Free for BRMAA members + $10 supply fee This workshop will introduce students to wood carving including tool safety, and basic tool usage will be emphasized. Students will learn the safe procedures for carving using a knife, and be introduced to sharpening, stropping, check-cuts, push-cuts, stop-cuts and paring-cuts. Tools will be available to use or bring your favorite knife. In the September workshop, students will work on carving an owl. In the October workshop, students will work on carving a pumpkin. No previous experience needed. Limited seating, please sign up early. For BRMAA members, you are welcome to join The Blue Ridge Wood Carvers regular meetings every Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. here at the Art Center.
