Beginning Drawing: Nature’s Elements in Pen and InkBeginning
March 23 & 24, 2024 2 Sessions (Saturday & Sunday) 10:30 am - 5:30 pm (Saturday) 10:30 am - 2:00 pm (Sunday) Instructor: Alan R. Young Class Fee: $200.00 non-members $180.00 BRMAA members This is a great class for beginners to learn basic drawing techniques. The pros and cons of drawing with micron pens or ballpoint pens will be discussed and practiced. This is a portrait orientation vs. landscape orientation class. Students will choose their project and should bring their own reference photographs, such as a family pet portrait, local wildlife such as a bear or trout, or fixed objects such as trees or smaller pinecones. Students will experiment with different textures, contrasts, and detailed forms found in nature with continued emphasis being placed on values and light principles to enhance realism. Students will also learn about outline sketching short cuts to increase speed. Students should bring a basic drawing pad (16x20 preferred) and assorted black micron pens; the instructor will provide all other supplies and materials.
