Appalachian Weaving of a Market Basket

 Beginning
October 25 & 26, 2019 2 Session (Friday & Saturday) 
10:30 am-3:30 pm                     CLASS IS CLOSED
Instructor: Sherry Bolin
Class Fee:   $60.00 non-members + $35.00 Supply Fee

             $54.00 BRMAA members + 35.00 Supply Fee                    
This Appalachian class will intrigue and inspire the student to learn more about the past generation’s lifestyles.
In this class the Instructor will cover the importance uses of baskets in the Appalachian area. The historical uses, designs, materials and embellishment on baskets were a very big part of a functional container of the Appalachian culture. Students will learn basket making techniques passed through generations.  Each student will design and weave a market basket out of strips of white oak. All the supplies will be provided by the Instructor.  Come learn and create a functional basket you can use for all types of purposes!
​There is a small supply list provided upon registering for the class.

You may pay via PayPal above, over the phone, or visit The Art Center located at 420 West Main Street, Blue Ridge, GA 30513 to pay in person. The Programming Coordinator is in the office from 10 am - 6pm on Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday.

Sherry is a renown weaver and has artistic talent in basketry,loom weaving and sewing.
Sherry currently teaches at the Blue Ridge Mountains Arts Associations by Appointment for weaving on the Loom.
