Amazing Surfaces in Colored Pencil II

Intermediate & Advanced
November 8 & 9, 2019- Friday & Saturday-2 Session
10:30am-5:30pm

The Students will continue to explore the potential of the colored pencil medium building skills in drawing and use of color.  Exercises will be provided specifically designed to refine skills in creating various surfaces, shapes, texture and composition.  Some of the techniques students will learn are use of several different papers, solvent techniques, pencil application, layering, burnishing, identifying and enhancing personal style.  The student will provide all colored pencils needed and related supplies.  The Instructor will provide all paper and boards needed for exercises as well as an instruction booklet.  There is a Supply List provide upon registering for the class.  This is a great class to advance your colored pencil skills to a new level.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

  • The Artist-
Jeffrey Smart Baisden
is a nationally recognized colored pencil artist and instructor who has worked exclusively in this medium since 1980. She is an experienced teacher of art having taught art in public school and in adult workshops.
Her work has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions, as well as twenty Colored Pencil Society of America International Exhibitions, receiving Awards of Excellence in 1996, 2001, 2007, 2016, 2017. In February 2003, she received the prestigious CPSA Exceptional Merit Award Best of Show, at the Explore This! Experimental Exhibition. Her drawings are included in the series The Best of Colored Pencil 2, 3, and 4 by Rockport Publishers, Colored Pencil Explorations, 2002, Strokes of Genius 9, 2016,  Ann Kullberg’s Colored Pencil Treasures 2016.  The colored pencil drawing "The Uninvited" was featured on the cover of Art Calendar magazine in February 1999.  Her work was featured in the November 2002 issue of American Artist Magazine and The Artist’s Magazine in July 2005. In 1998, she judged "Points of Color", the first all colored pencil exhibition in Florida and Art Spectations 2016 an online CPSA exhibition.   Jeffrey is a signature and twenty-year merit award member of the Colored Pencil Society of America, CPSA National Governing Board member and a past president of the Florida chapter of CPSA.  She was selected to teach one of the two national workshops at the CPSA Convention and Exhibition in Memphis, 2004 and in Washington, DC 2017.
