Week 3 Classes - 
Summer Youth Art Camp
July 7-10, 2020  Full Week

​Campers learn all about STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) projects and how all different fields of study can be applied to art.  This Full Day  Camp provides children with  several levels of creativity.  Our Student Campers will participate in  3 quality art classes: clay, mixed media and watercolor.  There is also great educational and game activities between classes.  We will have a mini art show on Friday to showcase the art created that week at camp.  ​
 
 Classes are organized by age: Mini Monet (ages 6-7) , Petite Picasso (ages 8-9) , Rising Rembrandt (ages 10+). 
​ Ages 6 - 14 welcome. 
​
 Lunch will NOT be provided and camp attendees must bring a bag lunch.
​
 Full Day Camp Tuition will be $125.00 ​

Classes:

Drawing and Painting using S.T.E.A.M.
July 7-10, 2020
Week 1- Tuesday-Friday, 4 days
10:00 am – 3:30 pm
Instructor: Joe Bosco
Class Fee:  $125.00 Tuition Fee
Ages: 6-14

Using engineering and math, campers will create simple portraits using printed photo and paints or color pencils.  Working from a printed picture student will create a self-portrait.  The self portrait will be created by cutting the picture in half or quarters then pasting it onto art board using colored pencils or water-based paint to finish the project.  Using math, the camper will learn how to scale up a drawing using the grid method.  Other projects include science of moving paint around a drawing of a face to enhance the final picture.  This is a great creative class for all ages.

​S.T.E.M. in Art with Mixed Media
July 7-10, 2020
Week 3- Tuesday-Friday, 4 days
10:00 am – 3:30 pm
Instructor: Karry Burnette
Class Fee:  $125.00 Tuition Fee
Ages: 6-14

Students will explore design, chemical reactions, states of matter, cause and effect, measurement, geometry and symmetry by using mixed media.  Some of the art projects include making marbled milk paper, explosion book, ski sculpture, kaleidoscopes and bleeding blossoms.  The techniques students will learn include abstract painting, sculpting with alternative materials to express emotion & personality.  Campers will learn some of the techniques of sculptor Alberto Giacometti.  Great variety and fun for all ages.

S.T.E.M. in Art with Clay Chimes and Fossils
July 7-10, 2020
Week 3- Tuesday-Friday, 4 days
10:00 am – 3:30 pm
Instructor: Luce Van Asten
Class Fee:  $125.00 Tuition Fee
Ages: 6-14
Students will utilize engineering and math to create clay chimes.  Other projects include fossilized imprints into clay.  These imprints will become the center piece for a small dish.  Campers will learn the science of prehistoric plants, and fossils.  The clay techniques will used to create all projects.  The finished pieces will be fired and can be used as functional art to take home! 






Daily schedule will include:
10:00am - 11:15 am - Class 1
11:20am - 11:40 am - Lunch
11:40pm - 12:00pm - Storytime
12:00pm -   1:15 pm - Class 2
  1:20pm -   1:50pm - Activity break
  1:50pm -   3:05pm - Class 3
  3:10pm-    3:30pm-  Waiting on pickup

You may pay over the phone or visit The Art Center located at 420 West Main Street, Blue Ridge, GA 30513 to pay in person. The Programming Coordinator is in the office from 10 am - 6pm on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday.
