Marketing topics include galleries or selling on one’s own, creating a blog and/or website, use of a newsletter and mailing lists. The intended projects the student will be working on include editing images, creating a database and a list of subjects to blog or write about in newsletters and /or social media. The students will learn how to edit photos for use in advertising, portfolios, brochures, website, etc. The Instructor will instruct you on how to price your art and approach galleries. What a great class to learn from an experienced and qualified artist! ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Marsha Hamby Savage has been painting for over 40 years, living in Georgia all her life. Painting plein air (on location) here and abroad, has been the largest inspiration for her work. Working from life is her continuing education. It teaches her to
observe correct value, color, atmosphere and light. Her favorite saying is “It’s the journey, not the destinations.” She believes the journey of the mind is as important as the journey of the feet!
She credits several wonderful workshop instructors and
mentors for sharing their knowledge and pushing her forward,
telling her to slow down and “sit on her stool” more, thinking
about why she is painting a particular piece. Marsha is often asked to demonstrate her techniques and to speak about marketing for the artist. Her colorful paintings inspire students to seek her out to learn more about color theory and edges. She discusses “viewer participation” and how students might not spell it all out for them, allowing that viewer to finish and see what is not detailed for them!
Marsha has been accepted into and won numerous awards at regional, National and International Juried Exhibitions. Her paintings can be found in personal art collections, a museum, the offices of the Speaker of the House - Georgia State Capitol, along with commissions for hospitals and restaurants. She is represented by several fine art galleries, and loves teaching studio and plein air workshops around the United States. She is a Signature Member of several art associations, and is a Masters Circle Member of the
International Assoc. of Pastel Societies. She has been featured in American Art Collector, Pastel Journal, Southwest Art, and Plein Air Magazine. Marsha has a set of pastels named after her by Terry Ludwig Pastels.
