Intro to Wood Carving Workshop

Instructors: John Thomas & Reid Carney
Class Fee: $25.00 non-members + $10.00 supply fee
               $10.00 BRMAA members + $10.00 supply fee

                   

     This workshop will introduce students to wood carving including tool safety, and basic tool usage will be emphasized. Students will learn the safe procedures for carving using a knife, and be introduced to sharpening, stropping, check-cuts, push-cuts, stop-cuts and paring-cuts. Tools will be available to use or bring your favorite knife. In the May workshop, students will work on carving a hummingbird. In the July workshop, students will work on carving a cardinal. In the August workshop, students will work on carving a walking stick. Limited seating, so please sign up early. 
     For BRMAA members, you are welcome to join The Blue Ridge Wood Carvers regular meetings every Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. here at the Art Center. If you are not a BRMAA member yet, consider joining today so that you can reap all the benefits of membership including discounts on classes, artwork, attendance to our Guild meetings, and so much more.
