We will pack into 2 days as much as we can about the basics of watercolor. This class is perfect for those who’ve never painted watercolor or have only played with it a little. There will be lots of demonstrations and time for you to paint with one-on-one help. We will go over the fundamental techniques to teach you how to control watercolor, such as: gradual washes, transparent layering, losing edges, matching wetness, wet into wet, dry into damp, complementary grays, negative painting, juxtaposing colors, and warm to cool color theory. We will paint a small, simple painting to incorporate all these techniques.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
As long as I can remember, I have loved watercolor. I started painting when I was about eleven. The versatility and power of watercolors to convey emotion, and to communicate my vision to bring subjects to life, makes this my favorite method of painting! As I paint, I often think about God; how we are made in his image and reflect his creativity. The beauty of God’s varied wonders motivates me - everything that lives, crawls and breathes in our glorious world is inspiring - wildlife, plants, and people - especially children!
After studying with Chris DiDomizio , my painting became richer and more emotional - I felt a renewed joy in creating mood and meaning in my art. Chris’ teaching has continued to be a major influence on my work.
Several years ago, I went to Africa. That experience was so profound it continues to remain the visual inspiration for many of my paintings. Africa is so extraordinary with the most beautiful, and astonishing variety of wildlife on earth. Animals I never thought I would see, was thrilling! Yet, meeting the people of Africa deeply affected me.
