ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Karen Margulis is a full time artist and art educator. She lives in Atlanta, Georgia with her husband, Michael. Karen Received her B.A. in Education from the University of Florida. She currently teaches painting workshops around the world.
Karen is a contemporary landscape painter. She works in most painting media, but has achieved recognition for her pastel paintings. She has exhibited her award-winning work around the world and has been reviewed by the Pastel Journal for her wildflower paintings. She is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America, and a Masters Circle recipient of the International Association of Pastel Socieities. She was recently a faculty member at the prestigious IAPS convention.
I discovered Karen's art work a little over two years ago and immediately fell in love with her painting techniques and subject matter. I soon discovered that she conducted workshops on pastel painting and even though I live about 4 hours away have attended a number of her workshops. Karen conducts her workshops in a very professional manner that makes experienced artists, as well as beginners feel comfortable with her teaching methods. I recently signed up for a scheduled workshop with Karen and also a private lesson, both of which were very, very beneficial to me.
I have purchased several of Karen's paintings and hope to purchase additional paintings from her in the future, as well as participate in future workshops.
I highly recommend Karen as an instructor and as an artist.

I have have the pleasure of taking pastel classes with Karen Margulis. She has a background in fine art, teaching and is passionate about Pastels as shown in her commitment to the medium. What I love most about Karen besides how nice she is, is that she is so giving of everything she has learned about Pastels. I know she reads many pastel book, goes to shows, and takes part in many workshops by some of the top Pastel Artists in the country. She shares all she learns and you get the best of all her investment and time she spent in learning. I have personally grown so much as an artist and have come so far in my skill set with Karen. I was always a good artist but after only a few classes she taught me so many things about color theory and value and how it can make such a difference in your painting. I have become a better artist because of her. If you are looking to take some classes, I highly recommend Karen's classes. You won't be sorry!
