What a great class to learn the basics of photo composition and how to use the “right brain” visualization strategies which can improve your photography. In this workshop, the student will learn to make a consciously shift from the left side of the brain to the right side to see a photo subject differently. This exercise is in a less structured but abstract framework. Come learn something new in photography and meet some talented photography friends.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
I was a watercolor artist before I was a photographer. Early on, I was frustrated that images I photographed for my subjects rarely ended up on film as I saw them when they were shot. I enrolled in some photography classes and began getting more usable images than failures. I learned that what I saw in the viewfinder and not in my head was what was really going on film. That realization improved my photographs as well as my paintings. As I evolved and technology evolved, I began using the computer more and more in my work. I still wanted to paint as well as do my photography. I began to explore combining the two to produce art. That's where I am today. I call it Creatography.
Doug Shiver is a native Georgian and a mainly self taught artist who is deeply fascinated with the South. This fascination manifests itself in much of his work, whether it is photography, graphic design, digital painting or mixed media painting. Some of his earlier work has been called "Southern Nostalgia". However, Doug has since broadened his endeavors to include more of his interest in nature and the sculptural beauty of the earth.
Doug has hiked, caved and photographed many of the areas of GA, TN, NC, CO Alaska and Canada throughout his life and brings all of this beauty and wonder to his work with an overwhelming sense of gratitude and appreciation. He now strives to capture these feelings with the art of the print.
