This class is an introduction to the watercolor medium, gouache. It is an ancient medium used throughout the Middle East for miniature painting and by the Impressionists for its atmospheric potential. In this class you can work form photographs and your own reference material to create several small paintings on panel and watercolor paper. Through practice you will gain knowledge of layering, line work and painting reductively. The techniques students will learn are mapping out a composition, adding washes for color value and layering paint with the correct ratio and final accent brush work to create depth. It is a great class if you enjoy painting with watercolor and acrylics.
