What a great opportunity to improve and learn from one of the great artists in the realm of Plein Air Painting. Bring one or 2 paintings that you have done outdoors in your medium of choice to learn how to create a larger more expressive painting from a plein air study. The student will consider composition and design in each painting they bring to class. The techniques the students learn will be capturing the emotional content from Plein Air and interpreting value and light sources. The class will be indoors and the supply list includes 1 to 2 paintings you have completed outdoors, easel, paint of your medium choice and a blank canvas. The student is welcome to bring a bag lunch.
Class is Closed

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Carly’s art education includes 35 years of self guided study and workshops with
internationally known artists Ann Templeton, Terry Ludwig, Bob Rohm, Susan Sarback, Alan Flattman, Ken Elliott, Alex Powers, Larry Moore, and others. Whether painting on location or in the studio, originality is a key element in her artwork. Her use of color and texture creates a
style that she terms “visual collage”. Carly imparts a sense of place, a story not completely told, drawing the viewer into the mystery. An award winning artist, her paintings can be found in homes across the country and in
corporate collections including Alltel, Atlanta; Centerville Public Library; the Brand Bank and the Museum of Buford, GA. Carly is well known as a workshop and classroom instructor. Her experience includes founder of the Oil Pastel Society, plein air retreats for artists in Darien and Menlo, GA, and oil pastel workshops in Atlanta and Fayetteville, GA.
Carly has written articles for WetCanvas.com, Daniel Smith Art Supply, and Caran D’Ache oil pastels. Her most recent project is a booklet/e-book for painting still life with oil pastels available at Blurb.com. Abstract Color (blog) features thoughts about the creative lifestyle as well as demonstrations of work in progress. Recently Carly moved to Rabun Gap, GA, from the Georgia
low country area of Darien.
